In order to implement the Strive and Forge Ahead Action for all-staff education and the Frontline Rule, and to further advance the in-depth implementation of the Three Rooms and One Hall initiative in the college, as well as to shift the focus of educational work downward, the School of Intelligent Science and Technology held the Intelligence Science Afternoon Tea special event in the Community Shared Living Room of Ren Garden Community on April 9th. This session invited Dr. Xu Ke, a full-time faculty member of the college, to participate, and the event was hosted by Liu Haohan, a counselor of the college.

Professor Xu Ke first reviewed his academic journey, work experience, and the reflections he had during these choices and transitions. He mentioned that his experience of joining Huawei as a Talent Youth was very precious. It not only clarified his passion for scientific research but also allowed him to accumulate experience in the transformation of scientific research results.

Regarding the work intensity in Internet companies, he also noted that most of the work is phased. He hopes that students will not blindly follow online public opinion. As for the differences between university and corporate research, he pointed out that corporate research is usually project-based, focusing on the innovation of work and the practicality of results, such as product launch or patents. Academic paper publication may not be the main evaluation criterion.

In contrast, university research is more focused on solving national needs and academic challenges. Additionally, the degree of freedom in corporate research may be affected by the company's financial situation, while university research is relatively free and emphasizes academic exploration.

During the subsequent discussion, each student present raised their current concerns. Professor Xu addressed everyone's career development needs one by one. He emphasized the importance of first finding a balance between one's interests and abilities and being willing to try new things. Regarding choices after completing a Ph.D., he suggested broadening horizons and expanding perspectives, and recommended considering overseas exchanges to gain new experiences. He also advised paying more attention to the application of artificial intelligence in the industrial sector for those currently seeking employment. The students all expressed that they had gained a lot and had clarified the direction for their future efforts.

Intelligence Science Afternoon Tea is a series of activities through which the college promotes the close interaction between full-time faculty members and industry mentors with students, adding growth-oriented comments to the code of students' career development. The college will use this activity as a starting point to actively encourage full-time faculty members to step out of the classroom and industry mentors to engage more with students, to deeply connect with students, and to pay attention to their career development needs. This will continuously create a more targeted educational ecosystem that addresses the pain points of students' development.

Currently, the college has established a regular communication mechanism mainly consisting of activities such as Intelligence Science Afternoon Tea, Intelligence Science Lunch π, and Office Open Hours. These activities serve as bridges and links to further deepen the work of the Three Rooms and One Hall.
