To implement the Strive Action of all-staff education and the Frontline Rule, and further promote the in-depth and solid implementation of the Three Rooms and One Hall work in the college, and shift the focus of education work to the grassroots level, on April 25th, the third special event of Intelligent Science and Technology // Afternoon Tea of the School of Intelligence Science and Technology was held in the shared living room of Renyuan Community. This event invited the full-time teacher Fang Yuqi of the college and the technical expert Zhu Delong from Huawei to participate. The event was hosted by the college counselor Liu Haohan.
Teacher Fang Yuqi first reviewed her academic journey and her thoughts during the process of making these choices. She mentioned that when facing career development decisions, she chose to try everything. During her doctoral studies, she also interned for a long time in the research department of an enterprise. It was through this experience that she clarified her preferred and suitable career development direction.
During his sharing, Expert Zhu Delong also mentioned the influence of the specific environment of social development on an individual's career development choices. This is both uncontrollable and difficult for individuals to contend with. Therefore, he suggested that students should pay more attention to enhancing their competitiveness, but at the same time, they should also have a strong heart. During the process of helping students sort out the general recruitment process for technical positions in enterprises, he also provided his suggestions for each stage of the assessment process in Huawei's enterprise recruitment.
For some of the specialized courses currently offered by the college, students have a direct impression that they are of little use. Regarding such issues, the two teachers also shared their views as experienced people. After going through the doctoral and working stages, when they review the courses during their undergraduate years again, they will find that the cultivation of personal logical thinking and innovation ability by these courses is not simple or mechanical. At present, they may not have a direct effect or effectiveness, but as time goes by, students will realize their subtle influence and benefit from it for a lifetime.
“IS // Afternoon Tea” is a series of activities organized by the college to promote full-time teachers and industry mentors to get closer to students and add growth annotations to the code of students' career development. The college will take this activity as a starting point to actively encourage full-time teachers and industry mentors to step out of the classroom, approach and deeply connect with students, care about and pay attention to the career development needs of students, and continuously create a more direct and painful educational ecosystem. At present, the college has established a regular communication mechanism mainly featuring activity brands such as“ IS // Afternoon Tea”, “IS Lunch π”, and “Office Opening Hours”, which has played a bridging and linking role in deepening the Three Rooms and One Hall work.
