To fully implement the All-staff education policy and promote the Strive Forward Action to go deeper and more solidly, on April 25th, the School of Intelligence Science and Technology held the second session of Huawei Technology Expert Sharing of the Intelligent Computing Life Equation - the Career Development Empowerment Plan of the School of Intelligence Science and Technology for the current students of the Suzhou Campus. This event has specially invited Dr. Zhu Delong, a technical expert from Huawei Technologies Co., LTD., to share and exchange ideas. It is hosted by Liu Haohan, a counselor of the college. The event attracted over 70 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students from the Suzhou campus.
Dr. Zhu Delong started from the question of work or postgraduate entrance examination, introduced his own experience, shared his decision-making process of choosing between postgraduate entrance examination and work, as well as his experience and feelings of working at Huawei. He indicated that his choice of the computer major originated from his love for games. After entering university, I participated in some robot-related competitions and won awards. Eventually, I was favored by the teachers of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and continued my studies for a direct doctoral program. He suggested that students start from their interests, gradually try, find and determine the combination point of their interests and abilities, and then persist continuously. Eventually, they will surely have relatively satisfactory results for themselves.
Subsequently, he took actual project experiences as examples to visually explain the differences between the industrial sector and the academic sector in project development. He emphasized that when the industrial sector conducts project development, it is not only necessary to consider the performance and accuracy of the model, but also to take into account practical application issues such as model deployment, operation and maintenance, response speed, and the number of users. In the academic circle, researchers usually focus on single-point breakthroughs and do not need to be highly concerned about the implementation and commercialization of the model.
During the Q&A session, Dr. Zhu Delong focused on the questions that the students were concerned about, such as career planning and employment prospects, and provided detailed and patient answers. Whether it was about Huawei's recognition of international students or questions about personal career path exploration, he answered them one by one, helping the students gain a clearer and more comprehensive understanding of their future development. The on-site communication atmosphere was very lively.
The sharing session by Huawei's technical experts this time was rich in content, covering key points such as Huawei's business lines, technical requirements for internships and autumn recruitment, as well as considerations for personal career planning. It provided strong guidance for the job-hunting journey of students at the Suzhou campus and fully leveraged the advantages of school-enterprise cooperation. It is believed that the students attending the meeting will surely transform the valuable experience imparted by the experts in the business world into practical actions. In the future internship and job search process, they will calmly deal with various challenges and smoothly take the key steps in their careers.
