Yang Gao is currently the Party Secretary and Executive Dean of the School of Intelligence Science and Technology at Nanjing University, the Executive Vice Dean of the National Research Institute of Health and Medical Big Data at Nanjing University, and the Dean of Nanjing University-China Mobile Joint Research Institute. He is also a Fellow of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the Executive Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Association of Artificial Intelligence.
His research interests include reinforcement learning, game theory, machine learning, and computer vision. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in related fields at international journals and conferences, such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, CVPR, AAAI, IJCAI, TPAMI, and TDKE. He was recognized as a young and middle-aged leader in science and technology as part of Jiangsu Province's 333 High-Level Talent Cultivation Project in 2009, and selected for the Ministry of Education's Program for New Century Excellent Talents in 2010. In 2019, he was named the leader of an outstanding scientific and technological innovation team at higher education institutions in Jiangsu Province. In 2022, he was recognized as a leader in military-civil fusion innovation in Jiangsu Province and was also appointed as a Tianchi Distinguished Professor.
