On November 23rd, the Office of the Suzhou Campus of the Undergraduate School organized undergraduate students to walk into the historical district of Pingjiang Road in Suzhou, participate in the outdoor parade of Sound in Gusu · Pingjiang to experience the drama, and understand and experience Suzhou's culture and history through footsteps and sounds. This event was organized and participated by students from the School of Intelligent Science and Technology, Nanjing University. At around 3 pm, the students arrived at the Dongshengli Cultural and Art Corridor. This is a demonstration area for applying modern art to transform and enhance historical blocks. It is a trendy art highland in the ancient city of Suzhou, adjacent to Pingjiang but completely different. After receiving earphones and other props on site and taking a brief rest, the students embarked on a journey of singing into Suzhou.

This stroll begins with the story of the Pan family protecting national treasures. Through immersive sound effects, students experienced the strength and bravery of fearlessly sacrificing themselves in front of invaders, even if they were separated, to defend national treasures.Starting from the No. 1 Scholar memorial archway, you can walk through Niujia Lane, Pingjiang Road and Zhongzhang Lane to the Kunqu Opera Museum. From the front of the Weidao Temple to Daxin Bridge Lane, you can pass through the Couple Garden and finally reach the Xiangmen City Wall. Each step is a new starting point of the story. Walking through 860 Gusu households, more than 10 ancient alleys, 4 gardens, and museums, students follow the guidance of the sound and feel the city. At the same time, what rings in my ears is not only the echo of history, but also various sounds from real life, such as the noise of the market and the movement of cars and horses, making this experience more vivid and lively.

In this world where the voice is the stage, we are no longer just spectators, but participants. Classmates share their feelings with each other, being able to experience the culture, history, and urban customs of Suzhou firsthand is a rare experience.

Sound in Gusu · Pingjiang is not only a performance, but also a cultural exploration journey that breaks through traditional viewing methods. Shuttling between the ancient streets and alleys of Pingjiang Road, students are no longer just tourists, but have integrated into the roles of drama. Through the blending of sound and scenery, students gained a deeper understanding and insight into Suzhou culture. This unique immersive experience has also become a profound imprint of their understanding of the ancient city of Suzhou.

This trip to Gusu is not only an important stop in the series of activities organized by the Suzhou Campus Office of the undergraduate school, but also a dialogue with the history and culture of the ancient city of Gusu. This exploration experience integrates history and reality, sound and scenery, allowing students to firmly believe and never forget their original aspirations while reading Suzhou and looking back on history with deep affection. It turns the heritage of a historical and cultural city into a driving force for progress.
