The best year is the Double Ninth Festival, in order to inherit the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, promote traditional virtues, strengthen cultural confidence, improve the
physical fitness of young members, and create a healthy and upward cultural atmosphere. On October 13th, the Youth League Branch of Class 1, 2022 of the School of Intelligence Science
and Technology organized more than 40 young members to hold the Climbing High, Looking Far, Mingde Remembering Double Ninth Festival themed group day activity on the Lingyan
Mountain Trail and Feng Guifen's former residence.
Lingyan Mountain is located in the northwest of Mudu Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou. In history, it was outside Suzhou City, with a height of 360 zhang and a name of Yan Mountain. It
is said that during the Spring and Autumn Period, King Fuchai of Wu built the Guanwa Palace here. Walking up from the entrance, one unknowingly enters a mountain path, where vast areas
of green are visible, leaving one feeling refreshed and invigorated. Hiking for an hour, accompanied by strange rocks and lush greenery along the way, the young members of the group remembered
General Secretary Xi Jinping's words, 'Green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver.' They practiced the concept of green environmental protection during the
climbing journey and showcased their volunteer spirit with a civilized atmosphere. The representatives of the members also recited and shared classic poems about the Double Ninth Festival, and
together felt the strong sense of respect for the elderly in the poems.
Feng Guifen, a native of Suzhou, had a pioneering and enlightening effect on the political activities of the Qing Dynasty through her pioneering ideology of combining Chinese elements with Western elements. As one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities, Suzhou has implemented the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on cultural inheritance, emphasizing the inheritance of civilization and the continuation of culture, leaving memories in the city, and making people remember their homesickness. In this ancient courtyard that has witnessed the hundred years of changes in Suzhou, the young members not only appreciate the intellectual brilliance of Feng Guifen, the pioneer of late Qing reform, but also deeply experience the perfect integration of history and modernity through a series of carefully arranged activities.
Stepping into the gate of the former residence, a strong historical atmosphere rushed in, and the students followed in the footsteps of the guide, shuttling between the ancient buildings and listening to Mr. Feng Guifen's story. In the school, when the documentary The Founding of the CPC was played, the students' eyes were firmly locked on the screen. Those precious historical moments seemed to turn back the clock and bring us back to that magnificent period of time. Finally, the students personally experienced the production of oil fans, and the completion of each fan carried the joy of the students and continued the spark of traditional culture.
This group day activity not only allowed the young members of the group to experience the charm of traditional culture, but also allowed everyone to relax both physically and mentally in the busy and tense study life, enjoy nature, enrich experiences, create a healthy and upward class atmosphere, and enhance cohesion.
